Using the power of Artificial Intelligence to advance defense capability
Artificial intelligence (AI) offers advanced information analysis and decision-making capabilities, and has been identified as a potential third offset for the Department of War (DoW). While AI plays an increasingly central role in operations, challenges related to trust, verifiability, risk modeling, bias, fairness, human interaction, and feedback persist.
This technical vertical aims to characterize, investigate, and manage these challenges with a suite of toolboxes developed through student research projects across multiple SCALE universities.

Research Focus
Computer vision, the field of computer science focused on automatically inferring semantic meaning from images, essentially teaching computers to ‘see.’ An additional strong interest in analyzing and modeling large amounts of uncertain data, such as mining data from social networking websites.
