SCALE High-Frequency Analog Circuits for Communication, Sensing, and Medical Applications

Professor Zoya Popovic of the University of Colorado Boulder presented at the Vanderbilt Seminar Series.

This talk presents an overview of research projects in the Microwave Research Group at the University of Colorado Boulder, including microwave integrated circuits, transmitters, quantum RF engineering, wireless powering, industrial and medical applications, etc. and then discusses two topics in more detail. First, millimeter-wave integrated circuits in compound semiconductors (GaN and GaAs) are presented, including design and measurements of power amplifiers (PAs), switches, phase shifters, low-noise amplifiers, quasi-circulators, isolators and beamformers. These circuits cover approximately 30 to 110 GHz and can be combined on-chip for transmit-receive front ends.
